My journey into floral design wasn’t a straight line — it was a winding path marked by resilience, healing, and rediscovering beauty in unexpected places.
I began my career in the world of fashion, earning a degree in Fashion Merchandising from F.I.T. in New York City. I had dreams of entrepreneurship, though I never imagined the path it would take to get there. After graduating and moving around the East Coast, I found myself in Branford, CT, working as a CrossFit coach — healthy, strong, and full of drive. But in what felt like an instant, my health took a sharp turn.
I began experiencing unexplained symptoms — fevers, night sweats, rashes, muscle weakness, and pain. Over seven years, my life narrowed to ER visits, mounting medical bills, and countless doctors who couldn’t give me answers. One ER doctor urged me not to give up, that it might be undiagnosed Lyme disease. That moment was a turning point, and I began exploring holistic treatments alongside conventional medicine to reclaim my life.
At the time, I was living in Austin, TX. On the days I felt strong enough to leave the house, I’d visit a small flower shop near my apartment. I’d create a simple wrap of blooms — just enough to add color to my space and a sense of hope to my week. Those visits became a ritual of healing, and over time, they sparked something deeper: a true love for flowers.
My background in fashion came full circle. I began to see the way color theory, texture, and composition could translate from clothing to petals. I started experimenting with floral design, and I felt joy again for the first time in years.
Eventually, I returned home to New Hampshire to be near my family and continue my recovery. It was here, in the place I now proudly call home, that I was finally diagnosed with late-stage Lyme disease. After years of treatments, oxygen therapy, and ongoing healing, I found my way back to life, and flowers were with me every step of the way.
Back in NH, I connected with a local florist who became a mentor and introduced me to The Botanical Business Society, a collective of New Hampshire floral designers with a shared passion for growth and artistry. Alongside my mother, I attended monthly meetings, learning both the business and creative sides of floristry. By the end of that first year, we collaborated on a large-scale floral installation, and I realized how much I loved transforming blank spaces into immersive floral experiences.
Today, I run Stems NH, a bespoke floral studio based in Keene, NH, where I design with heart, soul, and a deep reverence for nature. My mission is to help couples and clients experience the same sense of wonder that carried me through my darkest days.
Flowers saved me — and now, I create with the hope they might do the same for someone else.
